The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has maintained that police operation put pressure on kidnappers of a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae, and also led to his rescue. The police in a rejoinder captioned: “Re: Ransom Payment by the Family of Chief Olu Falae,” also queried the payment of ransom to the kidnappers by Falae’s family.

If after 28 years of marriage, you guys still allow room for divorce then something is wrong somewhere. An Ado-Ekiti Customary Court on Monday dissolved a 28-year-old marriage between Mr Imoleayo Sunday and his wife, Funmise. The marriage was dissolved on grounds of frequent fighting and adultery.

President Mohammadu Buhari on Saturday held a secret meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in New York in a bid to calm the tension going on in the All Progressive Congress (APC) over the ordeal of the controversial Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Nigerian workers, under the umbrellas of the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress, have asked the President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki, to vacate his office pending the determination of his case at the Code of Conduct Tribunal. The workers, who spoke across the country, said although Saraki is still on trial and has not been found guilty of the allegations against him, it is morally right for him to vacate his office as Senate President to defend himself.

The Nigerian Army has raised the alarm over plans by “some highly-placed individuals” in the North East, particularly Borno State, to sabotage military operations in the region. “The Nigerian Army wishes to inform the public and send a very strong and serious final warning to some prominent individuals and political groups who hailed from Borno State in particular and North East generally, that there is information of plans by some highly placed individuals and political groups to undermine and scuttle the fight against terrorism and insurgency in this country.  “The unscrupulous individuals and their cohorts were determined to reverse the gains made and scuttle our efforts of achieving the Presidential directive to defeat Boko Haram terrorists within 3 months. They are enlisting the services of some Non-Governmental Organizations in this grand design...

Although Boko Haram insurgency is largely Nigeria’s problem, President Muhammadu Buhari and his delegation were absent at a United Nation’s meeting to discuss and proffer solution to the problems of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the country. Immediate past governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam has affirmed that he is not afraid of facing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFFC, over corruption allegations leveled against him. The ex-governor attributed the Peoples Democratic Party’s loss in the last general election to the party’s negligence. He stated this while playing host to 17 PDP leaders from Benue in Abuja. Suswam noted that since he did not probe his predecessor, he was not expecting that his successor would probe him.
