The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has maintained that police operation put pressure on kidnappers of a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae, and also led to his rescue. The police in a rejoinder captioned: “Re: Ransom Payment by the Family of Chief Olu Falae,” also queried the payment of ransom to the kidnappers by Falae’s family.

Woman arrested for attempting to use twins for fraud

Not actual photo Police operatives attached to Pen Cinema police station in Agege, Lagos, on Sunday arrested a woman for trying to use twins belonging to Mrs. Ruth Uche for fraud. The woman was nabbed at College Road Estate, after she took the four- month old babies to a retired police commissioner’s house, claiming they were his grandchildren. The Nation gathered that the suspect, a mother of two, identified as Victoria, was introduced to the Uches by one of their neighbours.

President Buhari Missed UN Meeting On Boko Haram Because It Was Not Official – Presidency

Although Boko Haram insurgency is largely Nigeria’s problem, President Muhammadu Buhari and his delegation were absent at a United Nation’s meeting to discuss and proffer solution to the problems of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the country. The United Nations, Chad, Niger and Cameroon, appealed on Friday for help for millions of people in the Lake Chad Basin region forced to flee the violence of Boko Haram and hit with repeated droughts and floods that have brought malnutrition and disease. But Nigeria was not represented at the event chaired by the United Nations aid chief Stephen O’Brien, to the disappointment of US and European Union diplomats. However, the Presidency has maintained that President Buhari’s absence at the event does not mean he is not committed to improving national security and succour for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

BVN: 32 million accounts yet to enrol-- CBN

  The Central Bank of Nigeria has said 32 million active bank accounts have yet to be enrolled on the Biometric Verification Number by September. In a statement in Abuja on Friday, CBN Director, Corporate Communications, Mu’azu Ibrahim, said CBN was concerned by the number of account owners yet to enrol, considering that the exercise would end by October 31.
